TENS machine maintenance

TENS machines are very easily maintained.
Moistening the pads/electrodes when they start to lose their stickiness, winding the leads up between uses, and changing batteries when needed is pretty much all there is to it.

TENS MACHINE:

It is best to keep your machine in the case between uses.
Change the battery when it gets low, and the low battery indicator flashes.
Removing the battery is advised if the machine will not used for an extended period of time to prevent the risk of rare corrosion.

PADS/ELECTRODES:

Professionals usually wipe the area to be treated with an alcohol wipe, and use a spray bottle with 90% water, and 10% methylated spirits to spray the pads/electrodes after every use.
Many people that have used their TENS machines for years, just wet the pads/electrodes with water from the tap when they start to lose their stickiness, and let the water soak in over night. This is better for people with more sensitive skin also.
To do this, just run the tap and place your finger under the tap to moisten it.
Wipe the water from your finger onto the pad’s/electrode’s sticky side.
Repeat this until the whole sticky side of the pad/electrode is wet, and your finger slides over it.
Then place the pad/electrode back onto the plastic backing that it came with, and leave overnight.
You could also use 90% water, and 10% methylated spirits from a spray bottle after use.

LEADS:

Winding up the leads after use is great to prevent kinks in your leads. Kinks in your leads can cause damage, and failure of the lead. This is noticed by the TENS machine seeming to cut in and out intermittently.
Simply disconnect the lead from your machine, wind loosely around your flattened four fingers, and place them back in your case.
